The European Economic and Social Councils met in The Hague for a two-day conference (9-10 November), hosted by SER, to discuss the involvement of the next generation in the social dialogue in Europa.
Alexander Rinnooy Kan kicked off with an introduction to the central theme from the perspective of ESCs. Also on Wednesday, Prof. Hans Boutellier (Verwey-Jonker Institute, research into social issues and VU University Amsterdam) further inspired participants with his lecture on intergenerational solidarity. The theme of younger generations and labour market developments was addressed on Thursday by Anne Sonnet (OECD). Various countries contributed to the programme with presentations of the current state of affairs in ESCs in a period of flux.
